Simone Biles just made history as the oldest all-around gymnast champion since 1952. She impressed everyone with a very complex vault called the Yurchenko double pike. After her amazing performance, Biles posted on X about how much she loved her "black job."
Though she didn't mention Trump by name, it was clear she was referring to him negatively. Trump, the 45th President of the United States, has always been a controversial figure and is still a polarizing person in America.
Recently, during his re-election campaign, Trump spoke in an interview with the National Association of Black Journalists. In the interview, he claimed that illegal aliens are coming to steal "black jobs." This comment upset many in the African American community, including Simone Biles. She made it known that she will vote Democrat in the upcoming election.
LeBron James, a 4-time NBA champion, also made his stance clear. Known for always doing what he thinks is best for the people, LeBron has a huge influence as one of the most accomplished and popular athletes in the world.
Although LeBron usually focuses on basketball, he is involved in many projects outside the sport, including business, entertainment, and culture. He hasn't shown interest in a political career but often speaks his mind on political issues.
Since the 2016 election, LeBron has been firmly against Trump. He supports Democratic candidates and more liberal policies and has spoken out against Trump many times. In 2020, he said Trump was stopping progress in the country and that the NBA was better off without Trump’s support. In response, Trump has criticized LeBron, even calling him a harsh name.
LeBron is clearly no fan of Donald Trump, and many in the NBA community share his views. Legends like Stephen Curry, Steve Kerr, and Gregg Popovich have also spoken out against Trump.
Right now, LeBron’s main goal is to help Team USA win the gold medal this summer. He’s off to a great start in the tournament. But as the election season approaches this fall, expect LeBron to get more involved in the election. At the very least, he will likely continue to support the Black community, as shown by his praise for Biles' post.
