President Joe Biden's Campaign Paused Due to Covid-19

President Joe Biden is facing new questions about his run in the November election because his campaign events are currently paused due to a Covid-19 infection.

Top Democrats in Congress, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, have met with him individually to express concerns about his campaign. Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has also privately told him that she thinks he cannot beat Donald Trump in November, according to CNN.

Biden’s re-election bid was already facing problems after a poor debate performance against Trump last month.

On Wednesday, Biden’s press secretary announced his Covid infection and said he had mild symptoms. The 81-year-old president will isolate at his home in Delaware while continuing to work. He is vaccinated and boosted and has tested positive for Covid twice before.

Earlier that day, Biden visited supporters in Las Vegas and spoke at an event but had to cancel a later speech at UnidosUS, a Latino civil rights organization, due to his illness. This cut short a trip where Biden was trying to regain support among Hispanic voters.

Later, he was seen moving slowly and cautiously up the steps to Air Force One without a mask, saying, "Good, I feel good." Biden also posted on X to thank everyone for their well wishes and promised to "work to get the job done for the American people" while recovering.
